Like moving pictures? Try "moving paintings." Japan uses animation (anime) to tell all kinds of stories. Anime Visions introduces critically-acclaimed anime with mature appeal and organizes gatherings to talk about them. We go to movies about once every two months and meet once or twice a month to discuss specific current serials, which you can stream legally with subtitles on sites such as Hulu and Crunchyroll.
Anime series typically tell a story in 12 to 26 weekly half-hour episodes from one director, one main writer, and maybe a couple supporting writers. About 40 new series start every quarter, most of which are trashy and a few of which are artsy. We tend to discuss works that are accessible but artistic (think Inception, Eternal Sunshine, Black Swan).
