Hey, everybody. I just got off the phone with Michael, the guy who started this wonderful Meetup a few years ago. He's been too busy to make it to a jam for a while now, so I've volunteered to take the reins. However, I realize that I'm a newbie, so I would defer to anyone else who's been coming longer. If no one objects, and I become the organizer, I would advocate for changing absolutely nothing. The group runs great as it is. Michael also gave Pam Simmons, the supervisor of the Senior Center, administrative privileges. We can add more people to the organizer list if we want. See you at the jam tonight.

Here is a link to a nice tune that I've been working on (on fiddle) called "Ashokan Farewell." I'll also try to attach the file. The link here shows chords, tabs, and lyrics: http://www.traditionalmusic.co.uk/scottish-guitar-tab/ashokan_farewell.htm

I also like "The Parting Glass," which I cannot play at all but I think that the guitarists in the group will be able to pick it up pretty quickly. Lovely lyrics. Here is a link to info, chords, lyrics, etc.: http://www.traditionalmusic.co.uk/scottish-guitar-tab/ashokan_farewell.htm

And then if anyone has Neil Young's "Sugar Mountain," could you pull that out tonight? I'll see if I can print it out, too. I can't play it at all but it would be great to hear it played.

    Thanks :)

Hi Laurie. Having never done it, I just tried uploading a lyric sheet that I copied from the internet, and it seemed to work. I clicked on "More" on the navigation bar, right under the title at the top of this webpage, and clicked on the "File" category. I uploaded "Me and Julio" as a Microsoft Word document.
As for posting links, that could be done on the message board under "Discussions." But I was the last one to post there, and that was a while ago.

This is my first time RSVP'ing. We're supposed to post links to the tunes we'll be bringing (?) Where do we do that? Thanks. See you Sunday.

    Great, thanks!

Hi, Bruce. You and your electric are very welcome, and there are ample outlets. I sometimes play electric bass with the group, but if there's another bass player, I switch to mandolin.

Are electric basses welcome? I'm kind of a beginner but can usually keep up with simple things.

I don't know the senior center--would it be any problem finding a place to plug in an amp?
