My first time to the group was more than I expected. I thought it was fun and enjoyed listening as well as familiarizing myself with the members' songs. Thanks!

Hi Bill. Thanks for the work you put in to organize this for everyone. You sounded great (yes, I could hear your mandolin just fine). I'm looking forward to sitting in on a regular basis, I really enjoy the group.

It's Sunday afternoon and I just got back into town. Did anyone make contact with Pamela Simmons about tonight's meeting at the Burns Park Shelter?

I replied to her message to find out if anyone did, but didn't hear back from her, so I'm thinking no?

I am going to bring some copies of a couple of songs from Dylan's Blood on the Tracks album. These songs are in Open E tuning but with simple chord shapes and I am posting this in case anyone wants to print and try these out before the Meetup.

Here are a couple of helpful links:

Why the open E tuning and its resonances mattered so much to Dylan for this album:

Chords for the songs I am bringing:

Great songs. 'Simple Twist of Fate' was one of the first I learned; it was the Rolling Thunder version on the Web page. Will your sheet music include the standard-tuning chords or just the open-tuning versions?

Could one of the members planning to be at Sunday's meet up call Pam Simmons at the center to help with some arrangments for the next meet-up
cell[masked] Thanks! Bill is out of town and I would like to meet with one of you first.

I am tentatively going and had to change my RSVP to no. 7:00 is a little late for me on Sunday, but I will try to make it.

I just sent a mass e-mail to the group, but in case you didn't get it: I got a confirmation from Pamela Simmons that due to some unexpected construction at the Ann Arbor Senior Center, we WILL be meeting in the Burns Park Shelter. (That's the little one story building at the corner of Baldwin and Wells, across the baseball field from the center.) We won't have access to a white board or the drum box. I'm going to try to make time to bring a little sound system.

Hello, I am new to this group. I can bring an acoustic song and 21 copies but I am not a singer/frontman, so I hope that isn't a problem. I would like to see what the group is like and look forward to a jam session and meeting everybody!

      Sounds great. See you Sunday.

Thanks, Phil. Yes, Pamela Simmons, the director of the senior center, said we may be able to meet in the back room of the center. I would imagine it's hard to predict the scope of the remodelling at this point. If the the back room is not available and the weather makes the shelter inhospitible, my house is a possibility. I'm coming back from out of town that day and I'm not sure when I'll be home.

Hi. I'm not familiar with the shelter. Does it have electric service?

      August 15

    • Bill

I'm sure it does but I'm not sure how many outlets. I'm hoping to get there in time to set up a small sound system, so I'll have a power strip, but you might want to bring an extension cord just in case.

I just an an email notice from the city (http://www.a2gov.org/news/pages/article.aspx?i=32) indicating the senior center will be closed for construction and this meetup has been relocated to the Burns Park Shelter.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
