EM Forster's "Where Angels Fear to Tread"

This is our official November discussion, where we will be discussing the book that we democratically selected as a group. This time we are reading "Where Angels Fear to Tread" by EM Forster. This will actually be the group's second selection by EM Forster! Back in January when I founded the group among friends and personal acquaintances, I chose "A Room with a View" to be our very first selection. That being said, if you would also like to read "A Room with a View" as a secondary selection (to be discussed after "Where Angels Fear to Tread"), please go ahead and do so- it's a great book! Please note that the group meets biweekly, once on a Sunday afternoon and once on a Thursday evening each month. The books that we decide on as a group are discussed on Sundays, while the Thursday selections are assigned by me or nominated by a member. Our location is the Sweetwaters Cafe's Plymouth Green Crossing location.

I am surprised we had the nice discussion that we did since this book was very short and relatively straight forward. I surmise that many a member skipped out on book club today to enjoy the summery November weather!

I really liked the story, but for some reason didn't click with the writer's style, even though I'd have to say he was a good writer. It was easy for me to miss details in the reading. Nevertheless, the story is interesting and shows a good contrast between the prim and proper English and the more expressive Italians. The characters are all weak and have flaws.

I now may or may not be there tomorrow. I'm going on a road trip to GR and I might not be back in time, or I'll be late.
