UofM Michigan Union, ground floor (map)
The Third Policeman is Flann O'Brien's brilliantly dark comic novel about the nature of time, death, and existence. Told by a narrator who has committed a botched robbery and brutal murder, the novel follows him and his adventures in a two-dimensional police station where, through the theories of the scientist/philosopher de Selby, he is introduced to "Atomic Theory" and its relation to bicycles, the existence of eternity (which turns out to be just down the road), and de Selby's view that the earth is not round but "sausage-shaped." With the help of his newly found soul named "Joe," he grapples with the riddles and contradictions that three eccentric policeman present to him.

We will announce the new location within 2 weeks of the meeting. It will be in the AA/Ypsi area. If anyone has any further suggestions, please add ideas to the discussion board "Meeting Locations Mar2012 on."
Is there a reason why we have to meet at UofM? Just curious. I won't be able to attend because I have problems with large crowds. :(
We used to meet at Borders downtown til they closed. Then we switched to Barnes and Noble, but they do not have space for a group our size, so we are trying the Michigan Union.
Oh, I see the problem. I'm glad for the group that it has gotten so large, but I will have to leave. I really mean it when I say I have problems. Can't catch my breath, have trouble breathing, and my heart begins to race. It has been really fun, though, and I especially loved Emlyn Chand's novel all of her own.
well, only 10 attended. but we had a good discussion. hope the low attendance was indicative of the "weird" book and not the new location.
b&n, amazon, and betterworldbooks.com all carry the paperback
