Hi everyone.

Time for our book group newsletter:

A) Our official March discussion is happening this Sunday at 3 PM. We will be discussing "Anna Karenina? by Leo Tolstoy. We are meeting at the downtown Borders location in the caf? on the second floor. In addition to the discussion, we will have another great tasting led by Seattle?s Best; this time we will be doing a tea tasting at 2 PM, right before our book discussion. Remember that parking in the structures is free on Sunday?yay!

B) Our May selection poll is closing Sunday at 12 noon, and I will be announcing our chosen book. Although ?Brideshead Revisited? currently has a strong lead, you still have time to get your vote in!

C) Our June selection poll is now open. Get on our group page and vote in our March poll. The winner will be announced right before the April discussion of ?That They May Face the Rising Sun?. Most of this month?s choices were nominated by members on the message boards. If there is a book from our list of 1001 (located under our group files) that you would really like to read, feel free to nominate it for inclusion in next month?s polls. Here are this month?s choices:

?The Count of Monte-Cristo? by Alexandre Dumas
?Cider House Rules? by John Irving
?Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?? by Philip K. Dick
?The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time? by Mark Haddon
?Cat?s Cradle? by Kurt Vonnegut
?Memoirs of a Geisha? by Arthur Golden

D) Approaching ?Ulysses? by James Joyce: Members voted to read "Ulysses" by James Joyce, when given a choice between it and similarly complicated novels. Since most of us agree that this book merits special attention, I'd like to give everyone a chance to vote on how and when we should approach this selection. I have set up two polls to allow interested members to vote accordingly. If you have additional ideas, feel free to send me an email or to discuss it on the message boards.

E) New Meetup Site Format: By now, most of you have probably noticed the drastically different format of the Meetup main site as well as the group pages. It may take some playing around with to locate everything, but it?s all there. A few quick points: Polls and Group Files are located under ?More?. The Message Boards can be found under ?Discussions?. ?Ideas? is a place you can post your own thoughts on what types of events the group should have; this may include special events like a book swap, dinner, or renaissance fair or you can use this function to nominate books for inclusion in the polls. I?d be happy to help out anyone who has questions about this new set up.
