Whether you travel by dragon, X-wing, Floo Powder, Stargate, rabbit hole, DeLorean,TARDIS, Oceanic Airlines, kayak . . . or simply by automobile (which you secretly pretend is a dragon) . . . then this meetup is for you!
A2E2 is for people (like you!) who live in or around Ann Arbor and are looking for new friends who share their enthusiasm for various interests. This includes, but is certainly not limited to, science fiction, fantasy, board games, RPGs, video games, comic books . . . and the list goes on.
While we are admittedly a bunch of geeks (but we're the cool geeks!), we don't just do geeky activities -- we love adventure, whether it is kayaking on the Huron River, seeing Shakespeare in the park, going to Cedar Point or exploring a haunted house. It doesn't matter what you're into, so long as your interests include expanding your social circle.
You don’t have to be a huge geek to come. You don’t have to be the person who has your DVR permanently set to the Syfy Channel, speak fluent Klingon, or have seen every single dragon movie ever made. Although you certainly can be.
We gladly welcome adult enthusiasts of all ages, ethnicities, orientations, shapes, sizes and life choices. Whatever your interests are, you will likely find someone in our group who shares them. We try to vary activities to cover our eclectic interests, and if you don't find an activity for you, we encourage you to create your own events. We would like to note that this group is for adults, so please do not bring young children to meetups. If your children are over 18, we welcome that, but please do not bring anyone younger.
Please note that we take the welfare of our members very seriously. As such, we have a Code of Conduct, which is available here: http://goo.gl/5CmAUi.
The idealistic goal behind the group is to create more of a community rather than simply a meetup group. Here you can come meet people with interests similar to your own as well as learn about new interests. As such, it requires that you be willing to actually go out to talk to people as well as get involved in the group. The truth is, you only get out of the group what you put into it.
If you’re not sure if you’ll like us, come anyway and see.
