Ann Arbor New in Town Message Board › Huron River Watershed Council presents:
Looking for an excuse to get outside now that it's finally getting warmer!?! And wondering how you can help the Huron River? Join us as we check the health of the river in our annual spring monitoring event on Saturday, April 20!
Bring a few of your friends, family, and coworkers (or join other HRWC friends) for a unique activity in the Huron River Roundup where you will collect a sample of the bugs (benthic macroinvertebrates) that live in our streams. While many of these critters are carnivores, only a few are likely to taste you.
Trained volunteers will lead you to two stream sites, where you search through leaves, sediment, and other river debris. You'll get to see the amazing amount of life in our waterways.
Volunteers meet in Ann Arbor and then go to two sites; one may be near your home. Children are welcome to attend with their own adult.
You must register to be assigned to a team.
Where: Meet in Ann Arbor. Then carpool to streams in Livingston, Oakland, Wayne and/or Washtenaw Counties.
When: Two times: April 20 from 9:00am to 3:30pm or 10:30am to 5:00pm.
Please Register by April 17. To register and for more information: www.hrwc.org/volunteer/roundup.
