On Saturday May 25th, the Ann Arbor Science & Skeptics are hosting the second annual “The Scientists Fair.” . The event will take place from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. This will be free and open to both Ann Arbor Science & Skeptics members and the public.

Located in the Multi-Purpose room (in the lower level of the main branch), there will be several professors and researchers from the University of Michigan with expertise in general fields of knowledge, available to answer your questions. Some of the topics will include evolution, geology, solar system formation, nuclear energy, climate change, particle physics, and more.

You can watch a short video about the Scientists Fair here (video).

The purpose of this event is to not only acquaint people to scientific knowledge, but also to how that knowledge is obtained. We want people to ask these experts questions like how theories are supported with experimentation, what hypotheses were tested and confirmed or falsified, and to what extent is there consensus amongst their colleagues about a given theory.

There is no reservation limit for this meet-up. And you can invite as many of your family and friends who enjoy science.

The topics of which we'll have scientists/engineers with certain expertise are as followed: cosmology/particle physics (the Big Bang, dark energy), evolution (marine biology), pioneering medicine (human cloning, disease modeling), solar system formation (organics), geology (volcanoes, fracking), climate change (atmospheric and glacial research), and nuclear power (power plants, nuclear fuel, nuclear waste).

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
