I have dabbled in photography since I was teenager (I developed my own B&W film and made contact prints; I could not afford an enlarger or the cost of color photography as a kid. Somewhere in my 20s I lost interest in photography. Then, in 2006 I discovered digital photography, i.e., DSLRs, point and shoot, digital image editing, etc. Both in my youth and adulthood, what got me into photography was the creative artistic process of composing the scene in the viewfinder, taking the shot, developing the image, and printing the image.
Canon PowerShot G10, but I also have a Nikon D300 with a Tamron AF[masked] mm F/[masked] Di II VC.
I like landscape, nature, street photography, but I have also taken pictures for an event at a vocational rehab center.
I would actually like to learn how to effectively use my Nikon D300. I would also like to learn how to create artisically interesting B&W images.
I learned about your group in the Plymouth-Canton Patch eNews article "Beginner's Photo Hike."
I am a retired computer programmer. The photo image of me is several years old. I have less hair on top, but lots going done side and back of neck, and it has turned gray.
The rain spoiled the trail hike, but I enjoyed the discussion at Ruby Tuesday. Patrick mentioned that he uses Nik plugins with Ligtroom for image processing. Google bought out Nik Software and is selling all the Nik plugins as the Nik Collection for $149. I got the Nik collection and installed/hosted them to Photoshop CS5. Silver Efex Pro 2 is awesome at doing B&W conversions (already did one using packaged presets). How about a meetup that reveals what the other Nik plugins are good for?
