In 2001 I studied Chinese calligraphy at the Smithsonian Resident Associates with an artist from Shanghai. That summer I enrolled in Chinese language courses at the Northern Virginia Community College. I have been studying Chinese ever since. In 2010 I completed a graduate program at the Hopkins- Nanjing Center (HNC). Shortly after I returned to the US I started the Arlington Chinese Corner hoping to meet others in Arlington with similar interests and to find opportunities to keep speaking Chinese.
The Annandale & SW Falls Church Chinese Corner meetup group was established to provide opportunities to study, improve, and maintain Chinese (Mandarin) language skills as well as English language exchange opportunities for native Chinese speakers in a relaxed social setting in the Annandale and SW Falls Church area of Virginia as well as the nearby Greater DC/VA/MD metropolitan area. This group is open to professionals, academics, hobbyists, or anyone with a general or specialized interest in China’s language, history, culture and contemporary affairs. The fundamental goal is to meet people with a common interest. All ages and interest levels are welcome to join. All members are welcome to smuggest, plan, and host events they are interested in and wish to share with other members.
Welcome! I hope to meet you soon!
