Let's Show Our Troops We Care

My cousin is currently serving in Afghanistan and we have heard so many of his platoon soldiers don't receive any mail, EVER. Let's fix that by getting together to put together care packages for his platoon. I am still waiting on shipping information from my Aunt but we can pack them up and get them ready when it is ready.

So here's the deal, I will bring the packing supplies (we will be using large flat rate boxes), the Jaycees are donating the cost of shipping and you, as the volunteer, donates the "fillers". Our goal is to make 20 boxes (or more!). Below is a list of suggested items to bring with you. Last time I sent a box I included Sports Illustrated, pens, pads of paper for diaries and of course baby wipes.   We will also have construction paper and note pads if any of you would like to include a note with the package.

Please note that we need to be finished putting together the packages and out of there by 8:30.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
