Naval Academy Special Olympics - Swimming

We are all very excited to co-host the 46th Annual Anne Arundel County Special Olympics Spring Games at the US Naval Academy. The Annapolis Jaycees (Junior Chamber of Commerce) would not be able to put this event on without your help. This year we will be hosting the Special Olympics qualifier for a record number of athletes, 425!

If you are a Jaycee and have a Jaycee t-shirt please wear it. If you need to contact me during the day I can be reached at [masked]

Location of Events
Saturdays Aquatics will take place in McDonough Hall while Sundays Track and Field and Bocce events will take place at Ingram Field.

Arrival and End Times
You will need a government issued ID to enter the Naval Academy. Please remember to bring one with you. Volunteers are asked to arrive at8:30 am on Saturday and 8:00 am Sunday. Events usually end between 2:00 and 3:00 each day. Look for the Volunteer Check-in table.

Due to the limited parking on campus, volunteers are asked to park outside of the Naval Academy and walk on through Gate 1. Free parking is available at the Bladen Street Garage located near St. Johns College. Free parking is also available along King George Street

Lunch will be provided to volunteers both Saturday and Sunday.

Wear comfortable clothes. For Saturdays Aquatics, some volunteers will be in the pool area which is very warm. Sundays Track and Field is outside with a high temperature of 57. The track is by the water so there may be a breeze.

Roles for the Day
Volunteers will help run the events, including some of the following tasks: Timers, Staging, Runners, Volunteer Registration, Scores Tables, Athlete Registration/Coaches Registration, Awards, Softball Throw, Shot Put, Javelin, Standing Long Jump, Running Long Jump, and many more.

Please let me know if you have any questions. If not, hope to see you next weekend,

Cory Cosgrove and the Annapolis Jaycees
VP of Community Development

There's some overtime available at work this day that I will probably want to take advantage of because, well, overtime means more pay. But I'll be more than happy to swing by afterwards to help with the cleanup.

I would like to help with this event but have something else to do that morning. I may not get there until noon. What time are you starting the events? I have worked the awards for this event for the past several years and would like to continue doing that.

We start about 8:30, but if you want to come and help out later in the day, we can certainly use it!

Hi All! I'm very interested in getting involved with this event! I'm a 28 year old young professional - this would be my first meetup with your group!
