Introduction

Instead of being misunderstood in the spoken word I can be misunderstood by larger audiences in print

What do you write?

Literary fiction. First novel on the shelves mid february"The Boy with a Torn Hat." Until the book section folded, I wrote reviews for the SD UnionTrib

How often do you write?

whenever I'm not masturbating

Why do you want to join this Merry Band?

I like the heat. And I think I have something to offer--credible encouragement to those struggling with a manuscript(as opposed to I'm OK You're OK generic pablum that serves no purpose) I would like to nurture a circle of friends who write, feel.

Free Style Category: Write whatever you want here

  • Thanks for the welcome! Looking forward to cutting my budding 'literary' teeth on this group.

  • Thorn, thanks for your response and the info. Coaster option sounds good, but I will now shoot for next Wed as opposed to the 21st in order to get bus-coaster routine down (just moved here from Normal Heights). Looking forward to meeting you and other anti-social, misguided and maladjusted individuals! Best, Donald

  • Hey thanks for letting me know about the venue change. I keep meaning to email you to let you know I haven't fallen off the face of the earth--or decided you all are too antisocial and misfit for me:) Unfortunately (or fortunately) I had another commitment come up for the next two months...I will be able to come every other Wednesday starting in a few weeks. I do miss the group and especially the good food and discussion. (Oh and my email is [masked].

  • Thanks for the note. I've had to choose between this group and helping my daughter-in-law for the last few Wed. evenings--she won! I can't make it next week, the 29th, but plan on the week after. She and I are working on a compromise that will allow me to attend this group. Thanks for the encouragment!

  • Like others said below: thanks for the warm welcome, and I look forward to joining the misfits-- eventually. I will make it to your meetings when things at home settle down. By the way, would it be unusual to read children's book stories during these get-togethers? I have a client who wants her 3 stories evaluated. Thanks again for the kindness, and I'll be seeing you soon.

  • Thank you for the warm welcome, Thorn. However, I have to impart fair warning that the reciprocal diametric between decorum and humour toggles in relation to self after said bottle of wine. Good thing I will be among other misfits and hopefully all will be forgiven.

  • Hi Thorn,

Thanks for your welcome, though the lack of gnomes, naked or otherwise, comes as a big disappointment. I could have sworn I read that you all were into such, and while I have an aversion even to the lawn ornament type, I was intrigued). In any case, I am aiming to join you all this Wed at last -- toting creative nonfic though, hopefully your place works its magic for that as well? See you then!

  • Hi Thorn,

I really appreciate your kindness, and I like the group (great vibe), but I think I'll look for a smaller group closer to Escondido. It was just dumb luck that the group meets on the only night in the week that I have a pre-existing weekly commitment on. I ditched that one night, so I could check the group out. But at this point, it's unlikely I'll be returning any time soon.

Good luck with the group - you run a great ship over there.

  • Hi Thorn,
Thanks for the note....my work schedule has literally been a thorn in my side, pun intended, so it has been almost impossible for me to make it on a Wednesday. I know that it would be beneficial and I will keep trying!!

  • Hi Thorn,
    Will probably make it tonight.
