Introduction

Hi, I recently moved to Oceanside after 2 years in (OMG!) Arkansas. Looking for kindred spirits. -- Barry

What do you write?

Have written a couple of dozen published pieces, including scientific papers and magazine articles. Also, received 2 Dishonorable Mentions in the Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest, an international parody competition.

How often do you write?

Haven't done so for a couple of years.

Why do you want to join this Merry Band?

To learn, to contribute, and for friendships.

  • NEVER STEP ON AN ARTIST. YOU KNOW NOT WHAT YOU DAMAGE.
I am so disappointed, miserable in failures, the doctor says I am in a state of starvation, but you all will brush this off and go on with doing what you do. Who cares? Goodbye.

  • I am almost nonfunctional, at the point of committing myself. Artists should not be treated like this. I don't want to come back, knowing I can't depend on this group. Jules needs to apologize to me. I would never do what she did to anybody.I haven't been able to write. No home and no job I can handle, but betrayal by supposed artist friends, no. DO ANY OF YOU UNDERSTAND? WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH YOU? You should all be flogged.

  • I went into shock and still am. No one stood up for me. No one said, "I'd like to hear the end." No one reprimanded Jules for her rudeness. She was out of line and the rest of you were no better. I would have stood up for you. Only one person showed any symapthy and the rest of you didn't give a damn. You have all gone way down in my estimation and words now will not help. Writers, artists, are supposed to support each other. Where was your support?

  • Open letter to the group at the 8/24 meetup: It is hard to write in the condition I'm in. Haven't been out of bed for most of the past week. Psychic tailspin. I am bitter and hurt and angry and disgusted with the group. I get rudely interrupted in the middle of a great story you all agreed to let me read, and then was told to stop-this after fighting miserable traffic on a 140 mile round trip to get to the one place in the world where there is any enthusiasm for what I do.

  • Bulwer-Lytton, as in "It was a dark and stormy night"? May I read your Dishonorable mentions? Won a Hemingway parody contest myself.

  • Hi Barry

Thanks for coming to the event last night and contributing to the general sense of goodwill and community.

If you would me to look at your work, send it to "[masked]" and I will be happy to take at it, or post the article we discussed last night at the fundraiser.

    cheers!
