August Accountability Session, Option 2 of 2

  • This location is shown only to members

***Only members who have attended at least one discussion of the Knapsack meetup group in the last six months permitted***

We have two options for the accountability session each month, hoping that those who want to join us will be able to go to one or the other.  You are welcome to attend both sessions, if you would like to do so.

Each session includes time to: greet each other, silently reflect and write about our anti-racism work, report on how we're doing regarding our anti-racism work, and receive feedback.  We usually do the reporting and feedback in small groups of 3-4 people.  We're allowing a little more time this month.  If you can't stay that late, please go ahead and RSVP, just let us know your limitations.

Remember to bring your notebook, if you have one!  (We'll have a few extra for anyone who hasn't come to an accountability session before.)

For more about our thoughts on these sessions, see "Open discussion to consider monthly accountability sessions."

I liked the small group. Nice discussions- even though the topics were tough. I was happy to do something else afterwards.

Some tough stuff everyone. I'm always appreciative of the accountability sessions. It's a really helpful space for me to grow personally, and I think it's also a useful space for us to grow as a community.

Thanks for the willingness to lean into discomfort, everyone. I am still processing yesterday's session.

Here's a film coming out soon (Sept. 13) that might be an example of what we were talking about: a film about people of color that doesn't focus on the the grave injustices they have experienced or on the exceptional people who became famous. I haven't seen it, but it was part of the Roxbury International Film Festival. www.thingsneversaid.com

I'm hoping I can make this one, I have something tomorrow evening and might be heading up to Maine for a wedding this day (August is a busy month) but I will definitely try, I've really enjoyed/found useful these sessions!

Sorry you can't make it, Bronwen. If you'd like, we can probably get a few people to get together with you for an extra accountability session. Let me know if you're interested and what dates/times would work for you.

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
