"This is my first art showing of 2013 and I've been busy creating so I have lots of stuff you haven't seen. I will also have live music and special "Friend of Mind" souvenirs for everyone who attends. I will also be reading poetry and excerpts from my first novel, "Tangoing With Tornadoes: A Novel." My art will be on exhibit and sale there for a week at this location. And a portion of proceeds benefit Patricia Feathers' Urban Bridges Studio, www.urbanbridges.org
WHEN: Sunday, February 24, 2013 - 1:30 - 4:00 PM....
WHERE: Elevated Coffee, 5261 NE MLK Jr. Blvd
Since this is how I make a living - and yes, sometimes this creative journey is lonely, stressful and financially unstable - I want and NEED your support to continue having the time and inspiration to invest beauty into our community and world! I titled this exhibit after a Toni Morrison quote in appreciation of the systahfriends (and men) in my life who offer words of wisdom, inspiration and encouragement because they believe in where I'm headed and they know that wherever I'm going, I'm always reaching back and pulling others along with me.
“She is a friend of mind. She gather me, man. The pieces I am, she gather them and give them back to me in all the right order. It's good, you know, when you got a woman who is a friend of your mind.” ~ Toni Morrison
THANKS in advance for your support!!
Keep ART in your heART, ya'll! Hope to see you soon!!

"Let Her Be Born"

All Rights Reserved.
let her be born with intention
... and handled tenderly
let her emerge from the depths
where shameful secrets
have burrowed so deeply
into your bosom
you almost forget they even exist
let her speak to me through you
so that i may reclaim myself
and know that i am understood
let her emerge
she is waiting for your invitation
a spiritual summons
which can only travail
when you embrace the love
the tragedies the emotional depth
that make us human
she is a mosaic thread
connecting us all
in ways we cannot even comprehend
she is already whole
stretched out wide within you
poking at your consciousness
hoping you'd notice
she is the completion of your heART
she is art
