I am hesitant to even post it as a meetup event because at points it is rather treacherous. Please do not sign up for this if you are afraid of heights, walking along cliffs, have bad knees, or can't scramble up vertical rock faces. Loose rocks and steep drop offs are common on this trail.

It's more dangerous than most, but the view from the top is stunning. I am not trying to scare anyone off, but this definitely is not something for those in poor shape or whom get freaked out over heights (it happens).

It's a fairly short trail, but the uphill portion is really steep and parts are quite dangerous if you are not careful! The plan is to park at the Wahclella Falls Trailhead and take the trail to the turn off for Munra Point. There is a $5 parking fee unless you have a NW Forest Pass.

After the hike, there are a few things we can do right there as well for those whom are interested. Wahclella Falls is just a mile down the trail and the Bonneville Dam is located on this exit as well as the fish hatcheries.

If it is too steep at portions can I scoot down on my booty? Or should I get trekking poles?

I don't use hiking poles normally for most hikes, but if you normally use them, I would bring them. But remember there are places where we have to climb hand over foot. I would not buy/borrow any just for this hike.

I did this hike last week but had to turn back because it was getting dark. I would really like to make it to the top this time. :-)

Dave I usually bring a rope just in case of a shy hiker. I would suggest a hike up oneata gorge if it stays hot. Gotta post that one myself soon.

Remember that section of I84 from I5 to I205 will be closed to repaving. Plan accordingly.
