Two lectures this week for the Jack London's Free lecture series.
This series is intended to entertain with information presented in an approachable manner in a comfortable environment. Speakers are local authors, educators and others who are knowledgable about their topics.
The Jack London is located in the basement of The Rialto. It is a bar, with a full menu. It is dark, and can be chilly, but the food and drinks are great. Come early for seating and to grab a bite before the lectures start. Doors to Jack London open at 6pm. Upon entering the Jack London you will be greeted by Don Van Kirk. He will give you a program and direct you to the tables save for Anyone Can Join members. Feel free to sit there to meet and mingle or sit wherever you like!
There are two!
First at 6pm: Brian Lacy, Portland's favorite beekeeper, returns to discuss the nature of honeybees. Brian will discuss bee beehavior(sorry) and will include information normally left out of his all-age bee lectures, specifically the sex life of bees.
Second lecture at 7:30: "Oregon Unsolved Mysteries." Joe Streckert(writer and tour guide) will discuss some fascinating stories of unsolved mysteries around Portland. Just in time for Halloween!
