This is a hike I have only done twice and I am hesitant to even post it as a meetup event because at points it is rather treacherous. Please do not sign up for this if you are afraid of heights, walking along cliffs, have bad knees, or can't scramble up vertical rock faces. Loose rocks and steep drop offs are common on this trail.

It's more dangerous than most, but the view from the top is stunning. I am not trying to scare anyone off, but this definitely is not something for those in poor shape or whom get freaked out over heights (it happens).

It's a fairly short trail, but the uphill portion is really steep and parts are quite dangerous if you are not careful! The plan is to park at the Wahclella Falls Trailhead and take the trail to the turn off for Munra Point. There is a $5 parking fee unless you have a NW Forest Pass.

After the hike, there are a few things we can do right there as well for those whom are interested. Wahclella Falls is just a mile down the trail and the Bonneville Dam is located on this exit as well as the fish hatcheries. You can watch the fish swimming though the fish ladders or perhaps go see Herman, the 450 pound sturgeon.

I had an awesome time and want to say thanks to everyone that showed up. I think the photos speak for themselves as to the views and the workout. Love it!

I hope to be there in the morning--but slight chance that a personal issue will take over and keep me from it. Don't wait more than 8 minutes for me at Gateway. Hope to see y'all.

Oh it's on. I'll hike this trail in showers, but not steady all day rain. I bet we don't even get wet at all. Keep in mind that post hike there are still several things to do at this exit if you still have energy. I am going to the Bonneville Dam for sure, but might also hike to Waclella Falls (awesome and only 2 miles rt) and the fish hatcheries are right on this exit as well. I think we should be off the main hike by 1PM (no promises).

Weather near the dam tomorrow is 65/partly cloudy...I'm excited!
With only a 20% chance of rain, I hope we're still on!!

I probably wont because it has been posted for awhile and even now it is larger than what I really wish to have for this hike. Everyone on the waitlist was added to the going list and unless a large number drop off, I will keep it closed.

    Hi Dave,
Is it possible to open a wait list? It says a Waitlist is available but that RSVPs are closed (thus, no waitlist).

Breaking in a new pair of boots in anticipation. . .

Normally I will hike regardless of the weather, but I will cancel this if it rains that day. Of course I may just do Wahclella Falls and the tourist stuff around there instead.

I'm training for St. Helens and think this will be a fabulous hike (plus, it just sounds freaking awesome), is it okay, though, if I cancel if the weather is horrific that day? I don't want to risk injury

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
