Join the Florida Trail Association and St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge for our Spring Creek Bridge Construction! Be a part of a volunteer trail crew that will focus on something that our local chapter can't handle alone: building a bridge/boardwalk. All volunteers are welcome, no matter your skill level: on-the-job-training is part of the fun! You can participate for a day, a part of a day, or the entire project. All tools, safety gear, and instructions will be supplied. Volunteers are welcome to show up Tuesday evening 3/26/13 for our official 10 am start on Wednesday 3/27/13. Volunteers can expect to assist with prefabrication, assembly, equipment operation and finishing work. Relax by a bonfire at our volunteer center in the evening. Please come ready to get dirty with sturdy work or hiking boots, a long sleeve shirt, and durable jeans. As always, Florida Trail Association will provide all food, equipment, and safety gear. We have laundry facilities, 12 bunk beds, a fully furnished kitchen and shower facilities onsite. Volunteers will be able to stay in the fully furnished bunkhouse or camp outside underneath the stars. Camping and meals are free, but you must bring your own camping gear. Meals will be prepared by volunteer cooks at the base camp kitchen, with plenty of snacks and sandwich makings available for your work in the field. RV hookups are not available, but there is plenty of room to throw down camp.
