Day Hike in the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge

This series of hikes is designed primarily for hikers who would like to increase their endurance on the trail. We will start with an 8-mile hike and gradually increase to 12-14 miles by the end of winter. We will hike over flat ground and maintain a relatively brisk pace. Bring water and trail snacks for several hours. This activity is also appropriate for anyone wishing to train for a backpacking trip. Bring your pack loaded with 50-60% final load. No limit. It was a great day on the bike trail. No bugs, a cool breeze and some new friends to join with already friends.

Keep in mind that St. Marks is closed because of the government shutdown.

Does this hike start at 8am or 11am? Also are we meeting at the carpark on S. Monroe and carpooling down?

Sorry for any confusion. We will leave the trailhead in the town of St Marks at 11:00. If you would like to carpool we will meet at the S.Monroe Park and Ride at 10:30.
