Wednesday Walkabout

NOTICE:  Change in Trailhead!  Edenfield NOT Thornton.

Join us in the early evening on these “Lite and Fast” power hikes to eliminate stress, meet new friends, enjoy the weather, and get a little exercise! This is not a trail running group, but we will maintain a slightly fast pace (approx. 3.5 mph) and cover about 4 miles. Please dress in layers for the cooler weather, wear light trekking or trail running shoes, and bring water, energy bar if needed, and a small flashlight/headlight just in case we are finishing up in twilight. Pets (on leash) must maintain group pace and owner must clean up after them (park rules). Meet at 5:15 p.m. for warm-up, stretches and greeting; then due to precious daylight, it’s important that we hit the trail at 5:30 p.m SHARP. Meet at the Miccosukee Canopy Road Greenway - Edenfiled Trailhead parking lot (at the intersection of Miccosukee and Edenfield Road. Parking lot has a large port-o-let with enough room for changing clothes. RSVP here, or call leader, to get alerts of any last minute updates, location change, or cancellations (due to weather or change in leader schedule).  Dawn Griffin (850)[masked], [masked]

I emailed the Leon County Parks Department last night and received a quick response.
The Edenfield front gate will not be locked and the Thornton Trail head will be closed at some time during the Phase II improvements to the trail north of Thornton (Nov - March). Visit the website for future details - impressive trail improvements! So, we are back to Edenfield Trail head for the start of our Monday/Wed walks 5:15 meet/greet and start at 5:30 SHARP. Each day brings less sunshine so bring your flashlights. We can do the big field at Edenfield then walk to/from Thornton. See you next Monday! NOTICE: Change in Trailhead! Edenfield NOT Thornton.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
