The six of us had a nice, brisk walk of a little over 4 miles Saturday. What a great morning. Others also enjoyed J.R. Alford Greenway on their own.We saw people setting off with loaded backpacks to build up hiking stamina. There were horse riders and bikers. The field of crimson clover was deep red, and a lone large thistle gone to seed stood like a tombstone in the lush grassy field at the front of the park. Dawn took pictures of other pretty wildflowers, and we stopped in the shadowy woods to enjoy the cool breeze coming off Lake Lafayette. We started at 10 as planned and were done in time to head home or to errands and lunch.
