Exploring Paulins Kill Valley Rail-Trail by Bike

Join us for a flat 23-mile moderately-relaxed paced ride along the beautiful Paulinskill Valley Rail-Trail; this route follows the New York Susquehanna & Western Railroad right-of-way. Explore this rural crushed-cinder trail through hardwood forests, over several historical railroad bridges and along the shoreline of Paulinskill Lake. Bring lunch, snacks, water, patch kit/extra tube, and a hybrid/mountain bike. Helmet is mandatory! Rain cancels. Meet at 10:00 AM SHARP at the Footbridge Park in Blairstown.

Consider this an all-day activity so we can stop and enjoy our surroundings.  There are no concessions along the route to purchase food items.  Optional post activity refreshment stop at local eatery.

Thanks, Terry for a great ride. The rainy weather failed to dampen the
group's spirits and we had a very enjoyable day. I hope your wound heals enough so you can do tomorrow's shore bike activity.

With such a fun group and beautiful bike trail, I had to give today's ride a five-star rating despite the rain. Many thanks to our leader Terry and sweep Steve. Terry, I hope both your bike and your leg get their boo-boos all better soon!

Thank you all for joining me. We had unexpected rain unfortunately but it was still a nice ride. We didn't do the extra miles due to weather - there is always next time. I was way behind because my gears weren't working right and I fell. [just had a tune-up so will be calling the bike shop] Stephen was an excellent first aider and took care of my injury. I understand there will be several photos of 'the wound' posted later on. I feel fine however, I know there will be a nice big black-n-blue on my quad; it is very sore and hot. Hope to see you all soon -- a very nice group. Stephen - as always an excellent sweep. The after-hike was relaxing and very entertaining.

I lived in Blairstown during the 1990's and this was my place to run. It is a very enjoyable trail. I am considering RSVP'ing as an attendee, but my bicycling skills seem to have eluded me in the past few years. Anyone interested in teaching me how to ride a bike again?

Robert - we travel at a relaxed pace; 8-10 mph. Many stop to photograph as well - we can discuss off-line if you wish. My email information is embedded in the AMC link provided.
