Thursday Evening Hike @ Valley Forge (3C6)

Our return to Valley Forge National Park from mid-Spring to Mid-Summer. Fast Pace. Meet at 6:30 p.m. at Washington's Headquarters parking lot near restrooms. Weather and daylight permitting we'll hike the trails and climb the hills. Optional refreshment stop afterwards. Thunder and lightning cancels. Well behaved, people friendly dogs on a leash allowed.

While this hike is scheduled for 6.30 pm every Thursday, it would be very helpful if everyone can get there by 6.15 pm. That way we can start signing everyone up. We generally have very large attendance during our 14 weeks at Valley Forge. We will try to break up the group between a faster group and the regular group either at the start or during the hike or on the way back so that faster hikers can do a bit more.

This hike is about 6 miles long with rolling hills and couple of climbs. you will need sturdy shoes and water. Please click the link below for directions to Washington's HQ parking area at Valley Forge.

It WAS fun hiking last evening. About 10 mins of rain at the start, then it stopped, then about the last 20 mins., it rained again, but it did feel nice. Glad the hike wasn't cancelled.

Yep, hiking in warm rain a refreshing experience. So appreciate these hikes not cancelling due to storm. Awesome hike, thanks Bijal!

People, thank you so very much for joining the Thursday evening hike on this really rainy evening! It rained right from the start and never really stopped. We had 23 people for this hike. Even though we started out together, we split up during the hike as some of us did three hills. I did not turn on the GPS but I am guessing about 6.5 miles and 1300 feet of up elevation. We had only five people at RB, all guys – pathetic! Please note that there will be no hike next Thursday due to 4th of July holiday. See you all on the 11th. Have a Happy 4th of July everyone. - Bijal

This hike was quite different! It rained like all hell for the first 15-20 minutes but produced some of the coolest looking mists in the woods that I have seen!Traction on the trails was not a problem.Since I usually hike in fair weather, this was a wonderful experience
