Give Back to the Trails on the National Trails Day!

  • Jun 1, 2013 · 8:00 AM

Come out!  Give your time and energy back to the trails on the National Trails Day!

We will meet at Betzwood Picnic Area [masked]N  [masked]W) of the Valley Forge National Park. Our trail chair, Phill Mulligan, leads the AMC’s light trail work sometime after 8:00 AM. The event is open to all ages and no experience necessary (note:  minors need to be accompanied by their parents.)  Bring water, snack, work groves (if you have), sunscreen, and your friends.  Bug spray is recommended, but not required.

You can also stop by at our information table before or after the trail work if you have any questions about the club or the chapter. There will be various information from other exhibitors as well.

If you cannot make it on June 1st, please join our chapter’s VF trail work on most of the 2nd Saturdays.  Also, there are trail work activities at other locations through out our region.  So, please check the AMCDV website “trail work” page frequently &/or contact the leaders for inquiries.

And if the Valley Forge is too far for you, you can check the following website to find the National Trails Day's event at the parks near you.

Thank you for those people came out regardless of the hot weather prediction. Although the event started earlier this year, the trail work did not start close to 9:00 AM. But, it ended in a short time, I guess. Robert, you are right. Trail works are not always the heavy duty work. But, small work makes the different, too. At least it tells you the different ways to watch the trails or the park when you come out for your leisure activities. Hope you all get some useful information from other vendors/exhibitors as well.

It was good. Everyone's effort no matter how large or small contributes to the enjoyment of the trails by all.

Same as our chapter’s other activities, pets(dogs) are not allowed unless specified in the write up. (note; Well-behaved dog on the leash is allowed in the weekly Valley Forge evening hike) Since the safety is our primary priority, the DOGS are NOT ALLOWED DURING the TRAIL WORK ACTIVITY. Even the leashed dog’s friendly action can surprise other participants, which may lead to an injury or an incident. Hope you understand. Thank you,
