Thursday Evening Hike @ Lower Perkiomen Valley Park

Please join us for a brisk paced six mile hike every Thursday at 6.30 pm at Lower Perkiomen Valley Park in Oaks. This is a mostly flat six mile hike. Some hikes are out and back and others are loops. We alternate between four different routes/hikes and
generally repeat a route once every month. This hike is open to hikers of all levels including new members and beginners. If you are not up to doing the full six miles you can stop and back track at any time you choose. Since this hike is done in the Fall, Winter and Spring all or part of the hike is done in the dark. Please bring water and wear appropriate layers. Heavy rain, sleet, or snow cancels. Well behaved dogs on leashes welcome. Optional refreshment stop afterward.

Directions: The park is located at the intersection of 422 and Egypt Road. From the East on 422 take the Oaks exit and turn right on Egypt road. Turn right at the next light on New Mill road and into the park. The park and ride is approximated 1/4 mile on the left hand side. From the West on 422 take the Oaks exit and follow the ramp to the right. Turn right at the second light on New Mill road and into the park. The park and ride is approximated 1/4 mile on the left hand side. GPS:[masked], -75.44642. Please click the link below for directions:

People, thank you so very much for joining Thursday evening hike. Yes, it did rain for about half the hike. Nonetheless, we did our full hike. We did the Dog Park hike with a total of 6.7 miles at a moving speed of about 3.8/mph. We had 23 people at the start, however, only 18 ended up finishing the hike as five left early due to weather. We had nine people at Rock Bottom, great times and some spirited conversations! Kevin thank you for sweeping. See you all next week. – Bijal

I apologize again for not attending. I have been ill with a brutal sinus / allergy infection and the wind has been knocked out of my sails. As soon as I can rally, I would still like to participate if that is ok with the group.

If you go to AMC's website, www.outdoors.org and go to the Delaware Valley Chapter link, it will give you all of the outdoor activities from hiking, biking etc. Future hikes for Thursday evenings (mid August to the following year mid May) all start from Lower Perkiomen Valley Park and we do about 4 different loops, mostly the walking/bike paths. Every year from Mid May to Mid August we start from inside Valley Park at Washington's HQ.

FYI - we hike whether rain, shine, hot, humid, snow etc., unless it's extremely bad and one the leaders calls it off. So, most probably tonights hike will still be on.

The weather out the window looks fine at the moment. Forecast puts an 80% chance of thunderstorms afternoon, so if it doesn't happen then, it probably will be fine tonight….

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
