This will be a relaxing river paddle with a few small rapids and some nice scenery along the way. You need your own kayak or canoe for this river event. Rental boats are not available, as there is no outfitter involved. (Paddle Creek has gone out of business) The leaders will coordinate with the shuttling of the kayaks and canoes. You must have a life vest (PFD) and I prefer you bring a whistle. Water shoes are recommended. Bring water and a moderate sized lunch. I anticipate this 13 mile trip will be about 5 hours. We will take breaks along the way. We will all work together for safety as we paddle down the river. We will need you to help after the river trip is done. We will need drivers to take people back to get their vehicles upstream at Raubsville and people to stay with the boats until all vehicles are back from the starting location. There will be an optional post trip gathering that we hope you can attend. Some prior kayak experience is desirable. Registering on Meetup is preferred. Please answer the questions as it will help in coordinating the shuttle. Meeting time is 9:15 am in Frenchtown, NJ. All participants are required to sign the AMC liability release. There will be an optional pizza and beverage gathering after the trip.

Requirements (for your safety):

You must wear your PFD while on the water. (The PFD will be provided for renters, however you may bring your own) Wear old sneakers, water socks or some other form of foot protection. Flip-flops are not acceptable. Bring water and lunch.

Suggestions (for your comfort):

Wear a bathing suit or quick drying clothes suitable for getting wet.

Bring sunscreen and insect repellent.

Bring a dry bag or waterproof container for your personal belongings.

Bring snacks.

Have a secure place to carry your car keys.

Bring a hat and sunglasses.

Have a set of dry clothes in your car so you can change for the ride home.

Thanks all! What a nice day to out paddling. I hope to see you all again. This looks like it was my last kayak trip of the year. But I''ll be on John's Sunday trip that is not on Meetup. Check the AMC schedule if you are interested. We are doing Kingwood to Bulls Island. Rich

By the way, I don't use the "Good to see you" feature. But thanks to those who did. It was good to see everybody!

Man, so much to do, so little time. Have a great day on the river!

What are the directions or address of put-in; coordinates would also help.
Also, some groups are recommending wet or dry suits at this time. Are they essential for current water temps? if so, I have to cancel. thanks.

Hi Phil, Wet or dry suits will not be required. It's still warm enough to not need them. The put in is at the Theodore Roosevelt Recreation Area off of route 611 in PA. I'll be sending details to everybody by Friday.
