Glen Onoko Waterfalls and Lehigh Gorge SP Hike (3C10)

  • October 26, 2013 · 10:15 AM

Please join us on Saturday October 26th at 10.15 am for a 10+ mile hike at the beautiful and scenic Glen Onoko Waterfalls (GPS:[masked], [masked]) and the Lehigh Gorge
State Park. There are beautiful views of the Falls from the trail and of the surrounding valley from the trail on the ridge. This will be a longer hike than just the typical Waterfall hike as we will keep going further for a loop hike. This is a very treacherous trail, proper hiking shoes are a must, and I will not allow sneakers. Please bring water, snacks, light lunch, and rain gear. Al Schwartz will be co-leading this hike with me and help with navigation. Optional post-hike gathering. Pets not allowed. Registration required. Please click on the link below to print directions to Glen Onoko Access Parking:

This is about an hour and twenty minutes drive from KOP. You might want to arrange a carpool with someone from Oaks parking area (Thursday hikes), or from Plymouth Meeting Mall.

      Ela,

I feel so bad about this. You were almost there. I checked the link for directions and it is accurate. I also checked GPS coordinates (decimal format) and they are accurate too. Next time be sure to get my cell when you sign up for one of my hikes. Had you been able to call, I could have guided you to the trailhead. Hope you were able to do something in Jim Thorpe - it was a beautiful day.

We were really in the "gorge". We did multiple stream crossings, too. The weather was just right for our adventure---not buggy, no humidity, not too slippery, and not icy. Thank you Bijal and Al for leading the trip. See you everyone on the trail!

People, thank you so very much for joining Glen Onoko and Lehigh gorge SP hike. What a beautiful day! The weather was just perfect with the sun shining all day and not a single cloud. It was also not really that cold either. We took in some fantastic scenery! Views from the ridge and from the trail near the river were simply amazing! I think we did a bit over 10 miles and took the whole day to do it. Al, thank you for co-leading and for your help with navigation. We had a major detour and ended up doing some serious bushwhacking! It was all planned in advance that way – at least that’s our story and we are sticking to it! Scott, thank you for sweeping. We had 25 participants and everyone did great despite some challenges on the trail. We had eight people joining us Molly McGuire in Jim Thorpe. See you all on a future hike. - Bijal

party sunny! Sounds really nice, Bijal. I'll check the site in the morning to see if I can go... my Saturday just cleared up. If I don't see you, have a wonderful hike

Robert, you can definitely join us for this hike if you so choose. I expect about 17-18 participants for this hike. Please note that I have not allowed pets in the hike description. It would be a bit over an hour drive for you. If you can't make it, we'll see you Thursday. Hope this helps. - Bijal

People, the weather is expected to be nice this Saturday with party sunny skies and no rain. It would be a bit cold in the morning though, so please dress in layers. Please let me know if you need any help with directions. Please update your RSVP if your plans have changed. Have a terrific Friday. See you Saturday. - Bijal

hi, assuming I'm off waitlist, is anyone interested in carpooling along 309 from Montgomeryville or north of there?

Hi, I am interested in carpooling. I prefer Plymouth Meeting, but Oaks parking is OK, too. I will pay/share for the gas and the toll.
    Thanks.
