White Clay Creek State Park (DE) Hike

Join us for a ten mile hike in a hilly section of Delaware. Meet to carpool at 8AM in front of Trader Joes in the Valley Forge Shopping Center. It is about an hour's drive to White Clay Creek State Park. Bring snacks and water. Stop afterwards in nearby Newark for food and socializing.

I am not that familiar with the park or Delaware. Can you give a more accurate street address or GPS point? Your directions seem vague to me. Thank you.

GPS point not given on Park site, that address 880 is probably park office,...nearest cross street is Wedgewood Road w/New London Road (Rt 896), turn in to parking lot just north of Wedgewood Road crossing...your best bet is to go to White Clay website and blow up map to see where the Carpender Recreation Area parking lot.

Is the hike start time at 9 AM if you are not carpooling?

    October 24, 2013

    • Adriana

      So 9:30? :)

      October 24, 2013

Aje, there are always delays at the carpool and at the trailhead. 9:15 to 9:30 will be fine. We'll wait for you....

There may be hunters nearby on Saturday, so wear a hat, vest, etc. of orange blaze if you have it.

We are meeting to car pool at 8AM at Trader Joes in the Valley Forge Shopping Center. If you would like to meet at the trailhead, we will get to the parking lot off New London Road (Route 896), park entrance just north of Wedgewood Road, about 9:15. NOTE: 880 New London Road is probably the mailing address for the park office, but we are NOT meeting there to hike, but at the parking lot off New London Road (Route 896)

There is a $6.00 fee per car for Delaware State parks...very cheap if we carpool. Also, if you go to the White Clay Creek website and click on the map, you can see where the parking lot is just off of Rt 896 New London Road....parking area is in Carpenter Recreation Area

John, what time do you hope to finish the hike? In 3 hrs, so say by 12pm?

I would be coming from Media. Would we be meeting at 9 at White Clay Creek? Can you be more clear about the meeting place.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
