2nd Fridays in Upper Bucks Hike - PA Highlands Trail Preview (2C6)

The Appalachian Mountain Club is planning a trail network that will protect and connect the ecological, historic and recreational assets of the Pennsylvania Highlands from the Delaware River at Riegelsville, PA south to the Maryland border in south-central PA. Join us for an adventurous fall walk on a proposed route of the trail section from the cliffs at Ringing Rocks to the historic canal town of Riegelsville on the Delaware River. A rough but scenic descent from Ringing Rocks to the River will be followed by an easier hike along the Delaware Canal Towpath. AMC's Mid-Atlantic Recreation Planner, John Brunner, may meet us along the way to discuss the Pennsylvania Highlands Trail Network project. Meet at 10 am in the Riegelsville Borough Hall/Library Parking lot, 615 River Rd. (Rt 611), Riegelsville PA and we'll carpool to Ringing Rocks. Bring a lunch, snack, and water. Please wear sturdy footwear (boots or hiking shoes recommended) and dress for changeable fall weather conditions.

Nice day in the woods and on the towpath. A little chilly, and a few snowflakes in the air, but a beautiful fall day!

So sorry Ian. I had planned to hike on Friday, but I need to attend to last minute business (not anticipated). Hope to join you next time

Hi all! Sorry for not including a more thorough explanation in the text. AMC uses codes to answer these questions. 2C6 means a moderate pace, hilly terrain, and 6 miles. We'll be hiking down some rough, medium steep terrain for the first 1-2 miles and then we'll be on smooth, level towpath terrain for the remainder.
