Join us on a 10-mile section hike along the Appalachian Trail and the northern Kittatinny ridge climbing to New Jersey's greatest elevation above sea level - High Point. Enjoy spectacular views of far-reaching vistas as well as trekking a steep side trail to the High Point Monument [if time allows]. The monument was built in honor of all war veterans and was completed in 1930. Bring over-the-ankle boots, non-cotton layers, lunch, water, snacks and camera. Meet at the AT paved parking lot .2 miles south of High Point SP office, Route 23 at 9am to shuttle cars to trail head. Refer to AT NJ Section 3 map. Group size limited.
Please note that this is a 'section hike' and not a loop. Therefore, all participants must be willing to shuttle cars and transport drivers back to their cars at the end of the hike.
This is an all-day activity and we will enjoy our day outdoors by taking time to gaze and photograph; don't expect to be off the trail before 4pm. Additional time will be needed to complete shuttling drivers. If you have a pressing appointment, this activity may not be a suitable choice.
