Valley Forge Monthly Workout Hike (4/C/11-12)

  • Apr 5, 2014 · 9:30 AM

APRIL 5th.

Please join us for our Valley Forge Monthly Workout Hike at 9.30 am at Varnum's Picnic Area (GPS:[masked],[masked]). PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM PERMANENTLY CHANGING THE LOCATION/MEETING PLACE FOR THIS HIKE.
Varnum's Picnic area is about 0.5 miles from Washington's HQ going EAST on Rt. 23. This location is about half way between the Memorial Chapel and Washington's HQ on Rt. 23 on the same side of the road as the Chapel.
If needed, we will also be able to use the parking right across the street by Von Steuben Statue. I will make some changes to the route to make sure that the character of this hike remains the same in terms of total distance, elevation, speed, and ending time. Sturdy shoes, water, snacks, and rain gear. Well-behaved pets on a leash allowed. Option post-hike lunch. Click the link below for directions to Varnum's Picnic Area:

People, thank you so very much for joining Valley Forge Workout hike from the new location. Weather was not quite as good as it was forecasted with clouds and winds; however, there were some breaks of sunshine near the end. We did the full distance, all the hills, and finished at around the same time. I will fine-tune the route in coming months. We did a little over 12 miles but don’t have other stats since my gadget ran out of battery. We had 23 participants for the hike. Larry, thank you for sweeping. We had 11 people at Sly Fox. Carol thanks for that recommendation – it was great. Wendy, thank you for taking the group photo and posting it. See you all on a future hike. - Bijal

People, I am rescheduling this hike for next Saturday April 5th as there is a 100% chance of rain on Saturday march 29th and the following Sunday does not look all that much better either. Sorry about the late notice. Hope you can make alternative plans for you Saturday. Hope to see you next Saturday. - Bijal
