Biking Along the Columbia Trail

Join us for a 30-mile scenic ride along the Columbia Trail, an abandoned RR bed. Trail surface is crushed stone and flat. Enjoy some excellent views of Ken Lockwood Gorge and beautiful farmlands. We will begin in Long Valley on the recently up-graded trail to Bartley Road, loop back to LV to continue to High Bridge and return.  We may take the lower trail back along the gorge - lovely to pass the water and watch the fisherman.  Keep your eyes peeled for the TROLLS. There are no concessions along the route; bring snacks, lunch, water, patch kit/extra tube, and a hybrid/mountain bike. Helmet is mandatory! Rain cancels. Meet at 10:00am. Trail parking is directly across the road from Somerset Hills Bank, 24 Schooley's Mountain Road, Long Valley [GPS coordinates for the parking lot: N[masked]; W074.78037]

If lot is full, there is additional parking adjacent to the bank's parking lot.

Optional after-hike refreshment stop at local eatery.

Thank you for joining me on a really great bike ride. We did 31+ miles in gravel!!! The weather held out until just before we were leaving the restaurant - perfect timing. Welcome to Stephanie and Maggie - first timers; we hope to see you on another ride soon. The after-hike stop included a ton of laughs - John L - you should be a comedian. Hope to see you all real soon - a great day outdoors!

I am so sorry to cancel at the last. I have to deal with unanticipated kid problems.

FYI... There is a church on the same side of the street as the trail head, between the trail head and the traffic light. There is a very large municipal parking lot and ball field behind the church.

The earlier bank used to let people park in most of the lot spaces, and had a few designated for patron parking only. The new bank that's there now only allows non bank customers to park only in the rear spaces near the dumpster.

Paul - have you been there recently? They added another parking lot and have expanded the trail.
