Climb Mt. Tammany (1100’ ascent) on a good trail to magnificent views of the Delaware Water Gap. Traverse the ridge as far as the Turquoise Trail which will take us around the far side of Sunfish Pond, the southernmost glacial lake in the Appalachians. Descent back to the cars will be via the Dunnefield Creek Trail with its many stream crossings. Total mileage will be around 10 miles, moderate to brisk pace.
This will be a fairly strenuous hike so prepare to be thoroughly screened if the leader is not already familiar with your abilities. When you register, please answer the screening questions or your RSVP will be deleted.
This hike replaces the Timp-Torne Trail hike which was cancelled due to trail closures.
