Banff Mountain Film Festival NYC - Night #1

  • Mar 3, 2013 · 6:30 PM
  • This location is shown only to members

One of my favorite events of the year, the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour is returning to NYC March 3-6th. For those of you who haven't attended these before, every year in Banff, Canada hundreds of adventure films are entered into a contest and the winners are toured around the world the following year. This year there are two full nights of films which will be repeated once. Sunday and Monday are a set and Tuesday and Wednesday are the second set - I'm organizing this meetup around the first set.

Here's a link previewing this years winners:

This event ALWAYS sells out early. We need to buy our tickets right away if we are to get in at all. There won't be any tickets available at the door unless you arrive super early and are extremely lucky: Tickets are $22 in advance and $25 at the door on the day of the show. I've already purchased my tickets, so if you wish to come, you are on your own. Please do not RSVP until you have purchased your tickets:

Generally the doors open at Symphony Space and there is a mad dash for seating. I intend to arrive at 6:30PM to get on line and the more of you who can join me, the better. We will rush in and try to get seats together for anyone who might show up a bit later. I'll also wear something that I'll announce later so that you can all find us once you are inside.

They are back. You saw them in Crossing the Ditch in 2011. Many have tried - all have failed. After much planning and preparation, Cas and Jonesy arrive to tackle one of the last great Antarctic odysseys, but discover an eerie similarity to Captain Scott’s race to the South Pole: there’s a Norwegian on the ice. He’s more experienced, he’s tackling the same record, and he has a head start. Last of the Great Unknown

Hey there Sara. I'm afraid my grandmother died and I have to fly out of town unexpectedly for the weekend. As a result, I'm not going to be able to make this meetup. I strongly suggest that you still plan to go - its quite a night! I'm going to try to switch my tickets to the Tuesday/Wednesday performances if I can. Have fun and sorry we won't have the chance to meet on Sunday.
