"Appalachian Trail Celebration & Backpacking Clinic"

"Appalachian Trail Celebration & Backpacking Clinic"

EVER WANTED TO HIKE THE WORLD FAMOUS APPALACHIAN TRAIL...OR JUST LEARN MORE ABOUT IT ?!

MEET LARGER THAN LIFE APPALACHIAN TRAIL AUTHORS, ICONS, VENDORS AND REPS FROM THE APPALACHIAN TRAIL CONSERVANCY, GEORGIA APPALACHIAN TRAIL CLUB AND THE BENTON MACKAYE TRAIL ASSOC - AS THEY CONDUCT SEMINARS, TALK ABOUT THE LATEST GEAR AND EMERSE YOU IN "EVERYTHING APPALACHIAN TRAIL"!

This is the beautiful view from the veranda behind Amicalola Falls State Park's lodge - where the event happens (actually from Friday night March 2 thru Sunday night March 4).

Along with many other events, workshop, talks and demos - Our sponsor Appalachian Wilderness Guides will be conducting the opening ceremonies on Friday night in their typically creative style: "Whose Whooo is Whose & Whose Got News?" (History Welcomes You to the AT Celebration & Backpacking Clinic") 7:00pm at park lodge. (where you will get info on the weekend, you can buy shirts for the event, hear about the "must do/sees" for the weekend, and learn a couple of things about the history of the event and park).

On Saturday Appalachian Wilderness Guides is presenting a "Secrets of the Pro's" seminar / workshop (11:00am - where you can learn the unknown "tricks-of-the-trade" that mountain guides use), and they are also sponsoring the very cool (indoor) "Virtual Campfire Conference" (7:00pm) - where you can see all the experts and authors (from the entire event) in one place at one time - comparing notes and opinions !

On Sunday (2:00pm) Appalachian Wilderness Guides will also be presenting (back by popular demand) "Top 10 Reasons an Appalachian Trail Thru-Hike can turn more "BLUE" and less "THRU" ! A look at the ups and downs of an Appalachian Trail Thru- Hiker ... with a comic twist !

There is no fee for this get - together and it's a "DO IT YOUR-SELFER" - but all Meetup members will get a special presentation ("A Day in the Life of Sir-Ed on the Appalachian Trail") - just for our Meetup group (not for the general public) on Saturday @ 2:00pm (signs will be posted or stop by the Appalachian Wilderness Guides table) if they RSVP here for this event on Saturday !

THIS MAKES A GREAT WEEKEND AND THE ROOMS AT AMICALOLA LODGE ARE VERY REASONABLY PRICED - BUT THE ROOMS FILL VERY FAST - SO DON'T WAIT !

I didn't attend as part of the AWH but went to your info sessions this weekend and greatly enjoyed them, learning quite a bit. Thanks!

This was an unusual (only) non-hiking event for our Meetup for 2012 - that gave me (the group organizer) a chance to really chat with the group members and answer in depth questions on the groups history and set-up, hiking, gear questions and the Appalachian National Scenic Trail! Loved it !

Nice to see the equipment available and to hear from the speakers. The best part was attending a more personal presentation by AWH, and a chance to meet other members

Had a great time - learned a lot - coming back next year! Would like to see a presentation on day hikes though.
