Appium @ Scale: Hosting Providers

  • Jan 8, 2014 · 6:30 PM
  • Lookout

Join us for the first Appium San Francisco meetup of 2014!  Hosted once again at Lookout Headquarters in San Francisco!

Want to wrap your mind around how you can use some of the best hosting providers for Appium?  We'll have engineers from Appurify, Bitbar, and SauceLabs on-site to demo some of their best technology and help you decide how to best scale your automation solution to the cloud and real devices.

First up is Appurify's CEO and Co-founder, Jay Srinivasan, Ph.D.   Jay brings a deep blend of technology and business skills to Appurify, holds 13 patents, and is the reigning Foosball champion in the office. At Zynga, Jay was most recently a revenue product manager on the Farmville franchise. Prior to that, Jay spent five and a half years at McKinsey & Co. where he specialized in B2B sales and marketing for high-tech companies. Jay has a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Illinois and a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.

Second up is Bitbar...a technology company that develops high-performance mobile software development and testing solutions based on widely adopted open standards. The company's flagship cloud-based product - Testdroid Cloud - is the first fully-automated, real-time testing tool for mobile app and game developers. The company also develops Testdroid Recorder that enables recording, capturing, verifying and replaying automatically generated tests, and Testdroid Enterprise for Android and iOS that enables building large scale in-house test labs. As a testimony of success with Testdroid products, the most successful mobile app/game developers use Testdroid on daily-basis - Rovio, Supercell, Swiftkey, PayPal, Cisco, just to name few.

Third up is Sebastian Tiedtke, Director of Web Development for Sauce Labs to cover SauceLabs large scale offering on iOS and Android simulators/emulators. Sauce’s cloud-based service allows developers to automatically or interactively test mobile and web applications on more than 250 browsers and platforms including iOS, Android & Mac OS X. With built-in video recording of every test, debugging tools and secure tunneling for local or firewalled testing, Sauce makes running, debugging and scaling test suites easier than ever. Sauce supports automated functional testing with Selenium and Javascript unit testing in all the popular programming languages, frameworks and CI systems.

Last but not least is AppThwack. AppThwack brings sanity to app testing. They rapidly test your app on 100s of real, physical devices in parallel. You get a report in real time so you can find and fix issues before ever touching a customer's devices. It's fast, it's easy, and frees you up to focus on more important things, like developing great apps.

As always, plenty of pizza and beverages for everyone!
