Let's practice Spanish!

This group is starting on January 10, 2013. The idea is for those of us that spend time learning Spanish to get together to practice using our new language. If you are learning Spanish or would like to help those of us that are learning, please join us!

My apologies for not attending but I just started a new job that has me reeling. I don't think my brain could hold anymore new information. I came home, fell asleep and did not wake up until after 7:00 PM. Tom and I will try for next time.

I really enjoyed our first meeting this evening! It was so nice to meet all of you. And everyone had such great suggestions for learning Spanish and wonderful ideas for our future meetings. I'm looking forward to seeing you all next time. : )

If any of you have any Spanish language learning materials or ideas that you think would be helpful for us, please bring them to our first meeting to share. Thanks! : )

I'm replying 'yes,' but it depends on my being able to have someone else get all the kids where they're supposed to be! Hope to meet you all on Thursday.

    Hello everyone! Feliz año nuevo!

I will be making a couple of calls tomorrow to find a meeting space at a Mexican restaurant. I will try to find a location for the two dates in January and then we can figure something out from there. I look forward to meeting you all!

Carol has volunteered to create a simple lesson plan and some initial vocabulary for our first meeting. If you have any ideas for how we can learn together when we are all at different levels, please bring your ideas!

And just to let everyone know, I'm just going to be bringing handouts with some very basic first year vocabulary and some sentences with an emphasis on when you first meet people (i.e., My name is (Me llamo es)..., I am from (Soy de)..., etc. Very easy stuff from the first chapter of my university Spanish book. Will be very interested in other ideas for practicing and learning Spanish, too. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

I have just confirmed a location. We will meet at Solea Mexican Grill on January 10th and 24th. We will try it for two meetings and determine if we like the location and the space. There is a small room off the main dining room that can hold up to 30 people. It is reserved for these two dates. I look forward to seeing you there!

They have fantastic food and homemade guacamole. We will have a server for our meeting room, you are welcome to order and have your dinner while we are meeting.

Solea Mexican Grill - 1104 Mutual Way, Appleton (This is in the vicinity of the front parking lot of Walmart - by the mall)

Looks like a lot of great suggestions for places to meet. I'm from Oshkosh, so Hilbert would be a little far for me to go to, right now. Might be a really good place to try out in the summer, though, when the roads are a little better. Looks like we are from Oshkosh, Kaukauna, Redgranite, Appleton, and Menasha, so far (I think). Maybe for the first meeting we could meet somewhere that is convenient for all of us? And then try some other places later?

I know of a simple Mexican diner in Hilbert. It is a little bit of a drive but the gentleman that owns it would be happy to learn some English and teach some Spanish. He always have an open invite for people to come and learn the language. We would probably have the place to ourselves and he would be thrilled to host.

I wouldn't be able to go that far as i am already coming from Redgranite...but if it works for everyone else that is fine too!

Hi Angela, Maybe we could meet at a Mexican restaurant for our first meeting? I just googled some today and the one called, Antojitos Mexicanos, has some pretty good reviews. Any other ideas?

Does anyone know where we can meet for this?
