Build Your First Shortcode in 5 Easy Steps With David Kryzaniak

Learn the basics of WordPress shortcodes so that you can write your own or tweak existing shortcodes. Shortcodes were first introduced in WordPress 2.5 (about 5 years ago). They are an incredibly useful tool that allow chucks of code to be easily added a post or page by non-programmers. If you've ever used the built-in gallery, you've actually used a Shortcode! We will discuss when and why to use shortcodes, and we will build a simple shortcode.

This will be presented by David Kryzaniak. He holds a BS in Information Science (with an emphasis in Psychology) from UW Green Bay and while he’s primarily a PHP developer, he also tends to do a lot of front end (CSS/jQuery/Responsive Web Design) stuff, too. He enjoys playing with electronics, writing code, and hacking into things he shouldn’t.

I am really sorry. I have an emergency and I won't be able to attend this morning. I was looking forward to learning more about Word Press. I will try to be at the next meeting. I am a beginner and open to learning how to get started.

I have interest in starting my own Blog and have no idea (at all) seriously... where to begin. I thought I would come on Meetup to see if there was a group for Blogging. So...anyone? Is this something that would get me to where I want to go? Do you have any suggestions. Thanks!

Hey Kimmer. WordPress is a great tool to use for blogging. This meetup is going to cover a little programming which you won't have to do but i encourage you to come just to chat to other members about blogging/WordPress in general. :)
