Waited for 30 min for folks to show up. If you do come find me downstream.

I paddled from Koepke's Landing on the Wolf to Hwy F and back Friday in 5 hours and 20 minutes. Now I'm sore and tired.

My grandkids will keep me busy most of the weekend.

    Coolie and other explorers:

The Wolf is still very high. Perfect for taking shortcuts through the woods and just exploring. I only took two shortcuts because I wanted to compare the 13.5 foot Sonoma's time to my older, longer, kayaks. I don't think I've ever been much faster.

We'll get together one of these days.

Any issues if I push the time to 10:30 am for a launch? I do see a chance for rain in the afternoon.

Recon of the river looks great. Water temp is about 45 or so (measured by the wet finger method). Current about 1 to 1 1/2 mph, maybe. Please meet up at the parking lot just to the right of the playground. We shall carry the yaks to the water's edge (about 75 feet) for an easy put in. It is a little muddy..but hell, the water is flowing.

Hey Daren! How long do you expect this paddle to be? I'm only asking 'cause I gotta work in the afternoon.

Blah....hit the return key. I will recon the Duck later this week and see what the flow looks like. Then I will give a better estimate of paddle time.

you could always start at the boat launch at that park by River's Bend (or whatever it is now) and go upstream, then back down, past the boat launch to the bay and then upstream again, I guess. Then again, it IS your paddle, so I'll "shut it". Ha ha.

Hi is a wet suit necessary?

    April 18, 2014

    • Daren B

I would dress according to the weather - if you have a wet suit, I would say it would be a decent option to stay fairly warm/dry. Have seen one forecast for that day to be a high of 61, but we shall see (will probably snow anyway).

I would love to do this paddle but I'll be out of town. I grew up near Pamperin Park.
