The practical applications and foundation practices of Baguazhang and Zhaquan

This group is about the study and practice of "self-defence" methods that are based on the traditional martial arts of Bagua Zhang and Cha Chuan. It is also about one's complete self-development and expansion of boundaries as only the martial arts can foster.

We meet and train in the freshness of the outdoors so come prepared.

Our martial art deals with the combination of long, mid, and close quarters combat. It is mostly based on strikes, locks, and leading the redirection of forces. All of this is rooted in the agile and stable footwork (walking methods) of Bagua Zhang. These are the unique "trademarks" of our martial art. There is nothing else like it.

We do mostly one-on-one partner work in the form of sparring and drills that we try to base on one's own personal level of development. We also do "solo" practices of "forms" and of the many traditional skill development exercises as well.

But clearly, free-form fighting/sparring skills are the core of our practice  - as a result this group is probably not suitable for those who want to focus solely on "forms,"  qi-gong, choreographed fight sequences, or on pre-planned self-defence drills.

Detail coaching and instruction is offered by John Spak. John has almost 40 years of martial arts experience, has trained extensively with "old generation" masters of these arts from throughout China and Tiawan, and is one of Vancouver's most senior experts in the arts of Bagua Zhang and Cha Chuan (Zhaquan.)

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.

Henry, started Reno Motorcycle Riders
