This meeting is open to all but intended for those DIY types that want a basic understanding of how Aquaponics works, an overview of the build steps, and parts list so they can build their own system. These systems can be built into an IBC Tote shipping container

1. Overview of, how an Aquaponic system works, plumbing, media, plants, fish, and Nitrogen Start-up cycle will be given.
a. Elements of an Aquaponics system
b. How the plumbing works
c. What media to use and why
d. What plants are recommended
e. What is the Nitrogen (Start-up Cycle), why do I care, and how do I do it?
f. Testing: Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, Temperature, and pH.
g. Water conditioning
2. Simple Step by Step Instructions for building a one IBC, 13 square foot, Aquaponics System and overview of how each system element works will be shown
a. The parts used to build the system
b. Where to cut the barrel and how to assemble it.
c. How and where to drill the holes for drain, water inlet, pump power cord, and Fish Tank access Oval hole.
d. Plumbing overview:
i. Drain/overflow installation and assembly
ii. Pump and water inlet installation and connection.
iii. Bulkhead substitutes and tricks
e. Final Assembly
We have four fully operational Aquaponics system that you can inspect. We will have all the parts to assemble a system, so you can see the parts and placement before and after they go together.
