Host: Dave Pennington teaches most of this class
Location: Bob Jordan's house
Prerequisite: AP Introduction Class or Equivalent
This class picks up where the Introduction to Aquaponics class ends, proving more details on systems Nitrogen Cycle start up, operations, maintenance, and diagnostics, measurements, bell siphons, minerals and treatments, managing pH, etc.
Take this class if you want a stronger understanding of how serious Aquaponics systems work. What you learn is transferable to almost any sized Aquaponics system.
Dave has formal Aquaponics training from the University of Virgin Islands and years of local experience that he imparts to students in an easily understandable and translatable way.
Bob's systems will be available for a short tour.
There will be time for Q&A

Barrel kits will be available at all but the Commercial classes. You can come to an introduction to Aquaponics or one of the “build” class and leave with a kit ready to assemble, just add the pump, controls of your choice, and some fish, to have a system ready to grow
55 gallon plastic barrels are available for $25 each. You may be able to find them cheaper but make sure they are food grade. Some of our barrels do not have the 2 plugs with them, which you will need to build the One Barrel Aquaponic System. You will not need the plugs if you build a Travis Hugley Barrel-ponics system.
Raft way liner is available for $1/sq ft and comes in 12’ minimum width. So the minimum quantity is 12’x1’ for $12. Just tell us how long a piece you need.
Supplies are available at most meetings.
Email us if you would like to make sure we will have what you want and tell us which meeting you will attend to pick up your supplies.
