The broad purpose of this group is to give families with Arab heritage the opportunity to create and participate in events that reflect and celebrate their heritage with their children.
My main interest is in finding other children and adults who speak Arabic for my preschool-aged daughter to interact with. She is fluent in Lebanese Arabic but none of her friends speak or understand Arabic.
I'm also interested in bringing knowledge of fus7a to the children, and giving them the chance to celebrate and learn traditional music, dance ad art.
While the group began as a group that intended to generally share Arab culture and language with anyone interested, I found it was hard to build a community that was cohesive and child-friendly that way.
If you are a parent or caretaker interested in building a child-friendly community that encourages fun and meaningful experiences with Arabic language and culture, welcome!
Please note that this group is open to people of all or no religion, ethnicity sexual orientation, class, and gender. Anyone making discriminatory comments or actions may be removed from the group with no prior notice.
