Weekly Arabic Language Conversation Class

This is an informal group for people who want to improve their Arabic, led by a native Arabic speaking Library volunteer.

The group includes some intermediate Arabic speakers and some native speakers so it is recommended for speakers with at least one semester of Arabic.

Hi, I was a bit curious about the dialects. There are a few Arabic dialects, and was wondering if the group's structured on the MSA or if one of the more used dialects like Egyptian is what we practice on? Thanks.

Omar, the teachers are using modern classical Arabic for the class, because that is what most students who take formal classes learn. Thanks for asking!

I'm a novice Arabic speaker, not sure if this meet up group is for me, can someone please share? Thanks.

Alex, I've been more so self studying in Eastern Arabic. That being said am I even going in the proper direction with my Arabic studies. I'm studying Pinsler, I've been at it for several months and thought I needed to find a group to reinforce what I'm learning and hearing. But if your group is more advance, then I will seek other avenues to work through, thanks.

Unfortunately, it's hard to be more specific about the level. Because the group is informal and not a structured class, the level of conversational ability varies depending on who shows up that day. But the instructors are happy to facilitate both more and less advanced conversations, so I don't think you would find it a waste of time - especially if you have been mostly doing self-study.
