Weekly Arabic Language Conversation Class

This is an informal group for people who want to improve their Arabic, led by a native Arabic speaking Library volunteer.

The group includes some intermediate Arabic speakers and some native speakers so it is recommended for speakers with at least one semester of Arabic.

This group should be renamed to be "Advanced Arabic Reading and Vocabulary Building". There has been virtually no conversation in the two times I attended. Anybody know where novices like me and my wife can go in Arlington or D.C. to use our basic but growing Arabic proficiency. We would like to discover and practice the language.

From Ingrid: Hi John - Don't give up on the class! I have emailed all the teachers and reminded them that this is supposed to be a conversation class. Why don't you try coming again and if they start doing a lot of grammar and vocabulary, tell them that they are supposed to conversing. You could bring in a topic to discuss. I have suggested to the teachers to bring in a current article from an Arabic newspaper or anything else they want so everyone can discuss it. Let me know how it goes, OK?

Ok thanks, we'll check out the group in a few weeks and see what's changed.

Does this group have online or phone chats or meetings? I live in Baltimore and can't attend in person. Please message me if someone is interested.

We've never planned any, but if you want to organize one we could experiment with adding it to the Meetup. Do you have experience with organizing online / phone Meetups (we do not...)?
