I'm driving a Jeep Cherokee 4X4. I'll have room for some folks. I plan on bringing my gas stove for the car camp. I do have some Firewood but if Patrick has enough, I won't bring it.

    i don't have a 4x4. do we need a 4x4 to drive this road?

    March 12, 2013

    • Rocky

Brenda, if your vehicle has good tires it should be fine. We'll also work to carpool too.

      March 14, 2013

    • Rocky

Brenda, you can carpool with us if you want.

      March 14, 2013

Lone Pine Saddle where we are camping is approximately 7,000' in elevation.

      March 14, 2013

    • Rocky

Seems everyone's questions have been answered Patrick. If someone had a vehicle question it has been answered.

Thx Rebecca sure we will use it all.

Camping in the pines. Plenty of trees for hammocks.

    March 13, 2013

If I am reading this correct we will be "car camping". Does this mean we will be parking cars at two different locations? If I can use my truck to hold my gear then I will not have to hike with the extra weight. But, if I need to pack it all in I can do that too. Also, can I hang on this trip? I have not been there before.

Thanks so much for the information. Also on the 4X4 thing. I have one but is does not have high clearance. Will it work to get up this road?

    March 12, 2013

    • Patrick

I would believe so but check with Rocky to confirm.

      March 12, 2013

    • Rocky

We will be car camping. Only needing a daypack for the hike. We will set-up camp when we arrive at Lone Pine Saddle then proceed a short distance to the trailhead.

Oh darn, I miss read the timeline. I assumed we would camp out night of 16th and hike morning of 17th, thus leave for hike later on 16th. I have a commitment that morning, but will see what I can do as this would be much more fun!

Hey everyone! Looking forward to this trip. I am coming from Tucson and will be driving up on Thursday to camp out and explore the area before I meet you all on Saturday morning. Never been to this area. Does anyone have any suggestions on camping close to where we are meeting on Saturday? Thanks!

    February 17, 2013

Hi Amy, let it be known that you want to carpool and let's see what happens. There isn't a packing list - just bring what you would if you we're car camping.
