This is a famous and popular hike in the Paria Canyon-Vermillion Cliffs Wilderness. This will be approximately 44 miles over 4 days. The special attractions are the high, sculpted red-rock walls in Paria Canyon and Buckskin Gulch.
Buckskin Gulch is a superlative narrows hike that ends in a confluence with Paria Canyon. It has been called the premier narrows hike on the Colorado Plateau, while another guide book claims it is the longest continually narrow canyon hike in the world.
We'll car camp Friday night (February 17th) near the exit trailhead at Lee's Ferry. (Shuttle arrives at Lee's Ferry @ 6am) After a long car shuttle Saturday morning we will begin our adventure at Wire Pass.
Saturday we will cover 12 miles through spectacular Buckskin Gulch to the confluence with the Paria River. Over the next three days, we'll meander down the Paria River south to Lee's Ferry. We'll cross the cold creek more times than we can count. On day 3, we'll take a short (approximately 2 miles) side trip to Wrather Arch.
Bring a good pair of water shoes, water socks, and a set of dry clothing.

FYI, Buckskin Gulch will likely have many frozen pools, some which you'll break through (although the water is usually no more than 4-5 feet deep. Warming sunlight usually isn't available in the gulch until past the confluence with Pariah, so wear good gear. Have fun!
